Under the Turkish Elevator Maintenance and Operation Regulation, monthly periodic maintenance is mandatory. In addition, an official inspection by authorized A-type inspection bodies must be performed once a year and a green label must be obtained.
The average economic life is 15-20 years. After this period, modernization is recommended due to difficulty in spare parts supply, energy inefficiency, and frequent failures.
